Judith Saxton

Judith Saxton Novelist, whose works include 'The Blue and Distant Hills' and 'Still Waters'.

Born:
05 MAR 1936
Place of Birth:
Norfolk
Biography:

Born March 5 1936 in Norfolk, and raised since the age of eight in Wales, Judith Saxton, the well known and well regarded fiction writer, chose to call Wrexham her home. Under her name Judith Saxton, as well as the pen names Katie Flynn and Judy Turner, she writes primarily romantic themes situated in historical settings. She has also written by drawing on her family's personal experiences of life in early 20th century Merseyside and which have been adapted and broadcast as a series of programmes on Radio Merseyside.

Ms Saxton (as well as under her pennames) has written about 60 historical novels. Her works are about deeply felt personal relationships between friends and between lovers in times of strong historically dramatic circumstances.

The vital role that women played during the Second World War is the centrepiece of 'You Are My Sunshine'. Written with authenticity, the characters' feelings ring heartfelt and true as they live through changing and challenging times. The women portrayed in this novel feel the growing empowerment women experienced during wartime in the 1940s on all fronts, both professional and personal.

Rural life before and during WWII is the setting of Saxton's novel 'First Love, Last Love'. A tale of three families and the hard times felt among them as they lived and survived life in England during that time.

'Harvest Moon' begins in early rural 20th century England and follows the tale of two brothers raised in two different homes and their experiences during the Spanish Civil War. Upon their return, the heroine and main character of the story must decide which brother is her true love.

For a story of a young woman's life in northern England, 'Liverpool Taffy' by Katie Flynn (aka Judith Saxton) is an engaging work that is popular from start to finish. As Judy Turner, the author's 'Follow The Drum' has been republished as 'Waterloo Sunset', and reintroduces readers to the dramatic tale of the Napoleonic Wars as only Judith Saxton can reveal. Saxton immerses the reader in many life stories in many different settings. The raw survival wild life of one living in the Australian bush or the sisterly intrigues found in a 1920s English Royal household or of a young woman's struggle to build her life and resurrect her ruined ancestral family estate as in 'The Blue and Distant Hills'.

Saxton's novels are as deep and full of emotion as anyone would hope to discover in real life. Her works are always a heartfelt experience that reveal the depths of life and love. Her love stories and her romantic historical sagas cover personal themes of sex, family and career in a rich blend that transends time and place. The author has spoken locally in Wrexham about her continuing successful career as a contemporary fiction writer. Her latest book is 'Darkest Before Dawn', written under the name of Katie Flynn.

I enjoy books by Judith Saxton/Katie Flynn. I have read most of Katie Flynn books, except Such Sweet Sorrow, (which I have bought recently), A Mother's Hope (due out next year) and From Clare to Here (which I shall order, if possible, from Amazon). I have not read all of Judith Saxton's books, and wondered, apart from 'The Pride'. 'The Glory', 'The Splendour' (which I have got), and 'Full Circle' - all of which follow on, whether any of her other books are in sequence, so that I can read them in order. Also, would it be possible for Authors (I am not complaining, just a suggestion), to state on book whether 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th in a series. It would help the reader enormously. Thank you.

I am reading Family Feeling at present and would like to know if there are any more titles that follow this to make a sequel.

I'm truly interested in Katie Flynn. I've got almost all her books:)I find her an amazing writer. Is there any way you could help me to find a bit more detailed information about her? Is there any way to get in touch with Katie despite her illness? I would be extremely grateful for any help. Kindest regards, Agnes:)

I found this very interesting. I have just finished reading The Pride and The Glory and wanted to learn something about the author, and what other books she had written, and whether there was another sequel about the Neyler family.
