Deep in the Snowdonia National Park is this nature reserve of some 9000 acres covering four valleys and a range of habitats.

Although it is well known as a mountain biking destination, its environment is superb for a wide spectrum of wildlife.

Mammals such as roe and fallow deer and badgers, birds such as black grouse and red kite and insects such as the pearl-bordered fritillary butterfly and hairy wood ant are all species found in the reserve.

The new Coed y Brenin Visitor Centre has information about the natural life of this large reserve.
