A soundclash of indie, electro and general lo-fi-ness, The Victorian English Gentlemen's Club have shot into the national indie consciousness since their genesis in 2003.
Always ramshackle, their initial amateurishness, although endearing, has been replaced by a more strident and confident outlook.
We learned on the job. We started playing gigs when we'd just had a couple of practices. It was a good thing really because it teaches you what being in a band's like instead of being one of these bands that practices for three years in a cupboard.

Although lo-fi indie trades on its chaotic nature, the band have stepped beyond that sole selling point with a clear and proficient songwriting ability.
Ears began to prick when VEG Club got on the road, getting out of the Cardiff student locality of their initial live appearances. Their debut single, The Tales Of Hermit Mark/My Son Spells Backwards, was released by Fantastic Plastic in 2005. It quickly sold out, and was followed by Amateur Man/Ban The Gin.
A barnstorming appearance at The Roadhouse in Manchester for the same year's In The City festival followed.
The VEG Club's self-titled debut album was released in August 2006.
