Pryce Jones
A contributor is trying to trace the name of the company who took over the Pryce Jones company in 1938.
If you can help with this query sent to us by Terry Moss from Norfolk, send an email to wales.mid@bbc.co.ukand we'll add your explanation to the page: "I was very interested when I read the trivia on Sir Pryce Jones. It was particularly interesting as I have an un-surrendered Pryce Jones share document made out to Pryce Jones dated 1862-1890. Unfortunately, I am unable to trace the Liverpool company who took over the Royal Welsh Warehouse in 1938. It would assist me if you were able to obtain the name of the company who took over as all my attempts have been unresolved." Mr R Carley, who has a family connection with the old Pryce-Jones warehouse, sent this response to Terry's query: "I and my wife who now live in Holland are both from the Newtown area and seem to believe that Kays Catalogue took it over. One of my aunties worked there in The Warehouse when the Manager was a Mr Gaskin. The big stairway leading to the upper floors was french polished by my wife's great grand father when the building was built."
