For a town whose name is synonymous with books, it's not surprising that the first section of this website is all about Hay's bookshops! It's packed full of other information too - from where to stay in the area to business listings, arts and crafts, and a picture gallery. It looks as if the site is updated regularly and it's also promoting a local campaign to bring broadband access to Hay.

Hay Literary Festival

All you need to know about the Hay Festival in one convenient place. Full programme details are published towards the end of April and you can book tickets online. There's also general information on how to get to Hay and how to secure accommodation during the busy week of the festival. If you've ever fancied working on the event - as a steward or runner for example - you can apply for jobs on the site too. And if you missed the previous year's events, you can listen to an audio stream of authors' talks.

If you want to find out more about the quirkier side of Hay, you'll enjoy this website. It's been put together by Richard Booth, the acknowledged founder of the Book Town and self-proclaimed King of Hay. You can find out why he decided to declare Hay an independent state, read about the history of the Hay peerage system and even listen to audio clips of the King's speeches. There's also a copy of the Hay National Anthem (written by the town's 'poet laureate'), a guide to Hay castle and a list of those who've bought peerages. It's also a commercial site, promoting the sale of peerage (up to £50) and other items.

This is the website of the Three Cocks Vintage Society which meets on the second Thursday of each month at 8.00pm in The Three Cocks Hotel. The society also organises an annual steam and vintage machinery show on the second Sunday in August, attracting around 5,000 visitors.
