Set on the banks of the River Severn, Caersws offers ample opportunities for anglers. A stretch of about 7 miles of the river is controlled by Caersws Angling Association and their website tells you how to get a licence to fish there and what you're likely to catch.


Caersws Football Club

Caersws FC play in the Welsh Premier League, winning the League Cup in 2001-02. There's a comprehensive history of the club on the website, along with details of forthcoming fixtures, results and squad details.

Caersws Workhouse

The history of Caersws Workhouse was published online as part of the Powys Digital History project. Built in 1840, the building could house up to 350 paupers and was dubbed the 'Bastille' by local, a reference to the infamous French prison. There's an old photo of the grim-looking building on the website.

Roman Britain - Caersws

It's thought that Caersws was once home to two Roman forts. There's a page of information on the Roman Britain site, along with a small selection of photos. The meaning of the Welsh word 'caer' is fort.
