Written by Dennis Duggan:"Our first ever Mid Wales Classic Vehicle Club meeting took place at Raven Square Station, Welshpool, on Sunday 31 July 2005. There were eight vehicles on show, including our Popular, and these generated a lot of interest from the railway's visitors. The meeting gave those present an opportunity to meet fellow members, and the atmosphere was extremely relaxed and friendly.
The aims of the club are as follows:
To cater for the owners of classic vehicles in Mid Wales, especially the Welshpool area where (so far as we know) there is currently no such organisation. To provide an opportunity for like-minded enthusiasts to come together in an atmosphere of friendship. To share information and contacts. To organise outings and social events. To co-ordinate gatherings at local shows, fetes, carnivals etc where the organisers wish us to do so. To foster pride in our vehicles, and to allow others an opportunity to share the enjoyment we derive from them.At the first meeting some ideas were kicked around. These included a newsletter and the formation of a committee. Monthly meetings, held in the evening, were suggested.
Another idea was to have a run out somewhere for a Sunday pub-lunch, either travelling in convoy or meeting at a pre-arranged destination. That would be a nice change from static shows, and it would be lovely to also have the occasional picnic.
The Mid Wales Classic Vehicle Club welcomes enquiries from potential new
members.
We cater for all forms of transport, from bicycles to tractors,
buses to cars, lorries to motor bikes. The vehicles need not be
particularly old - if it's interesting we would like to see you!! In fact
you don't actually have to own a vehicle to join the MWCVC, it's enough that
you have an interest in the subject.
We meet on the fourth Tuesday evening of each month, alternating between
Welshpool and Newtown. There might be a slide show, or a quiz, or perhaps a
member will give a talk. It is all very informal and friendly. You are
welcome to come along as a guest before committing yourself. Ladies are
encouraged to come along.
The annual subscription is £10, and includes a basic newsletter sent out
after each meeting. There are plans to have a more official club magazine.
So feel free to contact me through djduggan@supanet.com if you would like to know more."

Llandrindod Wells is hoping to have a new festival of transport at this years Victorian festival, this will include car, bikes, motorcycles, static engines and what have you. For those who have never been the beautifully situated Victorian spar town goes back to Victorian times for nine days every year, with street entertainment, a funfair, stalls and plenty of attractions with a Victorian theme. It is now hoped this popular event will be complimented with this major new atraction. I am a committee member and will update this site soon.

I am also in the khvc and agree totally with Dereks coments,it is a super little club where everyone gets on and super frienships are made. The classic car movement is a very big force and us local clubs should all network and share ideas and organise get togethers, one can only hope that our government lave us alone as with the useless european union and allow us to continue to enjoy this marvelous past time.

I own five old cars and think that Mid Wales is one of the best places to enjoy this brilliant hobby, the trouble with it is that very few people stick to one car and you start running out of space at home, and that can cause problems believe me.I really love this hobby and my cars i just wish we could enjoy it all year round.

In reply to Howard's query below: Literally ANY interesting vehicle is eligible to join the Mid Wales Classic Vehicle Club, regardless of age, type or condition. So motor cycles are definitely welcome, which answers Howard's question. In fact you don't even need to own a vehicle to be a member, just have an interest in them.
