"Villagers requested they would like someone to provide a club for the over 60s. The club is for people in Forden and the surrounding area. We meet on the lst Tuesday of the month at 2pm-4pm in the Community Centre.
Our aim is to promote and further opportunities for friendship and companionship of the members of the local community to improve their quality of life. We provide social activities (i.e. whist, speakers, quizzes, visits etc) and try to foster friendship and neighbourliness throughout our local community.
In September 2008 we embark on our fifth year as a club. We have speakers on a great variety of subjects. Our local Librarian bought his slides of a trek he made in Nepal. We had a visit from a paramedic with the Air Ambulance. We have visited South Africa through the slides of
a wonderful couple in their 80's who went to celebrate 50 yrs. of marriage with this trip. We have visited a farm implement museum on a local farm followed by a wonderful Farmhouse Tea in their kitchen.
We celebrate Christmas with special lunch out. This year we were also provided with a dance floor and electronic keyboard and a organ. One could dance or simply enjoy the music!
We have visited Lichfield Cathedral, Hereford, Wedgwood Factory. Anyone who is interested in joining us can ring me on 01938 580067."

Paul lewis, I think you will find the pub you are looking for is my local The Railway Tavern which is near to a caravan park and only 50 yards from the old Forden station. You can stay at the pub itself...

Does anyone know of or remember a pub in Forden which was run by Jack and Nan Chave? I used to holiday there in the 60's as it was my Aunt and Uncle. It was near a very small caravan park and close to the railway line. I can't remember the name of the pub but I had very fond memories of those holidays and would love to return some day. Good luck to your group, Paul

Anyone in your group remember the Weaver family (Edwin and Annie) at Fingerpost Farm? They leased the farm and had to leave there around 1932 when swine fever decimated their herd(of pigs?) and they could not pay the rent.Edwin was my grandfather. Was in the Boer war and WW1 died Worcester 1941.
