Rhayader's Haunted House

Rhayader house Tim Nicholls from Rhayader got in touch in June 2006 to share his story about a house in the town which he feels is haunted by the previous owner who died in 1994. The contents of the house date back to the Victorian era.

"I look after a house in Rhayader that was left to the local comunity to be turned into a museum but this has yet to happen. The old lady who lived there wanted to give some history back to the town. She was the type of person who collected stuff.

The house has not been lived in for about 10 years now but nothing has been removed and it looks like she has just poped to the shop.

Every time I enter the house, the internal doors are shut (these doors cannot close themselves as I wedge them open).

I can also feel her watching me as I do my checks around the building. I am not the only one to feel her.

She has made herself known to other vistors but they don't beleve when I tell them what they are experiencing.

She gives off the feeling of being upset that the house isn't being used as she had wished but likes to see people go round it looking at her possessions.

It's strange because she will follow you around the house but if you re-enter a room you have checked already, she's not in there and is in the room I next enter, as if to say 'What you doing? You've done that one, it's this one now!'"

It was certainly haunted in 2005. Two friends and I did some work on a nearby property for owners who were experiencing paranormal activity, unpleasant atmospheres and bad luck. We looked at this property as it was obviously so run down. The previous owner was there, quite fiesty and refusing to leave until her wishes, as stated in her will, were carried out and the house open to the public.

I now no longer look after the property but I have to say that it is true, its all the feelings that you get you feel watched all the time. When you are inside the house. Not many people have been inside this property since she died thats probably why its not well known.

I used to live in Rhayader. I've never heard that this place is haunted. I know where this place is and I don't think this is true!

A very interesting building indeed, perhaps you would be interested in a paranormal investigation of the property. I am currently working with owners of a property in Hay on Wye that has occurances and has ley lines running throught it. Seems to be a very active part of the country.
