Managed to do the trail from Tregaron twice! We all really enjoyed! It took 2.25 hours first time and 3 hours the second time with some exploring! It would be even better if you didn't have to leave the railway at Penpompren and come off at Trawsgoed, but in spite of that a quite superb couple of days!Well Done Ceredigion!

A superb trail combining a surfeit of wildlife experiences and railway memories - congrats to all those involved in its making! - only one query - any one know how to access Caradoc Falls without going on private land?

I can remember riding the train itself, all the way between Aber (then my home) and Carmarthen. It was so slow- the trip taking a total of around 3 hours. Even in those days you could do it comfortably in a car in 1.5hrs. I distinctly remember the carriage wheels squealing as the train negotiated one sharp curve after another between (I think) Llanilar and Ystrad Meurig. The scenery was beautiful. Fortunately I'm still fit enough to ride a bike and intend to do the Trail as soon as possible. The last two wash-out summers haven't helped me in this ambition!

Interesting to note there are many vantage points on the trail where you can watch the daily congestion of traffic that builds up, because of the myopic decision to run down and close this railway.

Have you cycled or walked along the Ystwyth trail? What do you think of it? Are there too many sections of road for your liking? Add your comments here:
