Last updated: 27 February 2007
Derek walks to Llanwnnen taking in the Teifi mansion - Neuadd, and Unitarian Chapel.
Listen to Walk 5
Starting point: Fish and Anchor pub.
Distance: 3 miles
A ford crossed the river here in 1900. The church on the hill and the colourful buildings mark out the village.

Out of the village, past the Fish and Anchor, go east to Penbontpren and left up a quiet road leading to another Teifi mansion, the Neuadd.
Set in fertile ground again with a fine valley view. Follow the road round, via Hendy to Capel y Groes, the Unitarian Chapel (there are many chapels of this denomination in Ceredigion in the Teify Valley).

The Welsh swagman is buried here. He was a successful farmer aged 50 who left his family in 1868 to go to the Australian gold fields.
They were big diary keepers over 58yrs of which 25 of them were spent in Australia. It's now in the Melbourne archives and gives good insight into the history of Victoria in the 19th century. Back down to the village.

The Lampeter walks are great there is plenty to see. I was born in Cwmann but now live in the highlands of Scotland and I do miss Pencarreg mountain. It is a very nice place to walk and take in the view.
