o/s walk route

The commons were old grazing grounds for the town's burgesses. The site is also home to chapels and an old priory. Along the drovers road, animals would be herded in bygone days.

the teifi New street leads Derek down to the river Teifi, past Kingsmead and down to the site of the old pond and mill at the bottom end of Bridge street. This area was developed as a gas works and slaughter house.

Along the river by Cae dash and a quick wander across two fields with views of Stephen Bridge and the supermarket. Here you can find swans, herons, salmon and sewin plus an array of water bound insects. The Romans also established a ford here.

Quiet countryside meanders down along the river past Barley Mow and a view of the tree lined drive to the old site of the Peterwell mansion.

derek and mrs lodwick Many tales are to be told here about the Evans and Lloyd families and Sir Herbert Lloyd from 1760. Sir Herbert enlarged the mansion and built an edifice with four golden towers and a roof garden.

Finally return to the town at Pontfaen, cross the river Creuddyn and head back past the field where the agricultural show is held every summer and onto the high street.
