"The Talgarth Christmas lights are owned be Talgarth Town Council. They are repaired, put up and maintained by the 'Happy Band of Volunteers' who come out two or three nights a week from October to November, in rain, wind and snow to put up the lights ready for the "Switch on" which takes place on the last Saturday of November.
The volunteers also go around the town and surrounding villages with Father Christmas on his sleigh to greet the children of the communities before Christmas.Putting the lights up all over the town involves a lot of hard work.
The team who organise, erect and maintain the lights are a team of around 12 volunteers. The work generally start in October with repairs, testing, etc. taking place.
Throughout October and November right up to 'Switch On Day' (last Saturday in November), the lights are put up around the town. This includes decorating the interior of the Town Hall and putting up the Christmas tree outside St Gwendolines Church ready for the Tree of Light Service. Then, of course, at the end of January they are all taken down again.
At the switching on ceremony of the lights there is a marching band, childrens disco, mulled wine and mince pies, as well as a visit from Father Christmas."

I help with the lights and I really enjoy helping because it gives something to the community and the tourists.

I have not seen your lights but have heard good reports about them.
We are in desperate need of a marching band
to lead the reindeer and the REAL Father Christmas around our town. Our usual band has disbanded!! Are you available or do you know a band that is, preferably one that is close at hand.
