"Brecon Volunteer Bureau was not our first choice of placement but since being in this placement we have enjoyed ourselves and have learnt valuable key skills in a working environment. In this placement we have met all sorts of people and have had a chance to communicate with them.
At the Bureau, we were given a lot of support and help by the happy and cheerful staff. They taught us valuable office skills like I.T. and how to use photocopiers and to talk to people on the phone.
Our task in BVB was to update their database. We did this by going around different organisations and asking them to fill in a questionnaire which we had developed. This questionnaire gave information, such as phone numbers and addresses.
Once we had this information, we updated the computer and sorted the information into a directory. This directory meant that it was easier for the staff to find out phone numbers and it was useful to members of the public if they want to volunteer for charities or organisations.
We have enjoyed working at the Brecon Volunteer Bureau and will encourage people next year, who are doing work experience to also do the same."
