Ryan Jones is a Community Police Officer with Dyfed-Powys Police. Here he tells us about the PACT scheme at the information day organised by Age Concern Ceredigion at Tregaron's Talbot Hotel on 7 February.

Listen to Ryan Jones...

"I'm Police Community Support Officer Ryan Jones of the Dyfed Powys Police covering the Lampeter and Tregaron areas.

I'm basically here to be the friendly face and the approachable face in the community of both Lampeter and Tregaron.

I'm here today to try and explain a bit more about PACT - which is Partners And Communities Together.

This is a system put in place to try and get the neighbourhood policing team to assist the community in what matters to them.

So, from that then we have public meetings, forums, in areas which highlight the issues people are bringing back from their communities.

These then get put forward to a panel and three are voted as the top three priorities for the area for a certain amount of time before the next set of priorities is set.

From these then we'll work with partner agencies, hence the name, Partners And Communities Together.

We'll work with other agencies, the council, highways, dog wardens, water board, whoever and anyone that needs to be involved to try and resolve matters within the community.

I can give you a brief example now of a couple we've had in the Tregaron area is such things as anti-social behaviour by youths in the town.

We reported back at the last meeting to say that we'd liased with the Anti-Social Behaviour Co-ordiantors (ABC's) and taken action.

And that's basically it, we just set the priorities, we work through them with partner agencies and make the community a happier place."
