Powys Traws Cambria

Traws Cambria bus Find out more about a brand new bus service launching in January 2006 which will provide a two-hourly service to towns between Brecon and Newtown.

Information provided by Powys County Council.

A new bus service linking Brecon, Builth Wells, Llandrindod Wells and Newtown will begin in January.

The new 'Traws Cambria' bus service will commence on January 9 and will offer a two-hourly service between the towns. Funded by Powys County Council and the Welsh Assembly Government, the initiative aims to improve public transport links within the county.

The service will use three low floor buses, with air conditioning and double glazing. Audio-visual display equipment has also been installed which automatically announces the current location and the next bus stop.

The new service, which will be operated by Stagecoach, will connect with the existing 60 60 services to Abergavenny, Merthyr Tydfil and Cardiff. It will also link with the Brecon to Llandovery service at a new bus interchange to be constructed early in 2006 in the Heol Gouesnou Car Park next to Morrisons Supermarket.

For more information on the service, telephone Powys County Council on 0845 607 6060 or Travel Line Cymru on 0870 608 2 608.

The buses to and from rhayader are rubbish! I'm sorry but it has to be said. You can't get anywhere and it takes forever when the bus actually does come but it's either at 8 o'clock in the morning or half past five in the evening! I really, really want more buses running to places like Shrewsbury and Abberystwyth. i feel like im missing out on a life because i live so far away from everywhere and as i am too young to drive it would be a great help. or a train would be better. thankyou (:

Brilliant service, used it today but the fare of nearly £10 return from Talgarth to Newtown is a bit steep as I understand you can't get a network rider day out ticket at £5.50 as it is a subsidised service. Cost me nothing as I have an over 60 pass, but wife had to pay full.

Llandrindod's town service is excellent. The drivers are always helpful and cheerful, especially John, who I understand is about to retire. He is not only helpful but entertaining as well.

Timetable would help. What part of two hours from Llandrindod for travel in either direction? And where is the bus stop?

For more details Jim, please use the links on this page. Timetable information is available either through Travel Line Cymru or Powys County Council's website. Hope this helps - Mid Wales Web Team
