Every day the Arriva Train Wales arriving at 7:27am Crewe to continue to Manchester Piccadily is late. Sometimes it is by 5 minutes, others up to 20 minutes meaning that everyone misses their connections to get to work. If this was a one off thing fair enough but after doing this journey for 3 months the train is late on average three times a week. I have emailed Arriva Wales many times along with other passengers of the journey but to no response. The phone lines are always busy.

I've been trying to book a ticket online for the 05:17 train from Aberystwyth, to London on the 16th October. The Arriva site keeps telling me that the first service available is 19:27 arriving in London at 06:53 the next day! Obviously there is some sort of timetable disruption at that time. Why doesn't the Arriva site carry better information regarding forthcoming major planned service amendments?

On Wednesday 7th June I caught the 06:33 train from Birmingham to Aberystwyth... After several delays including a 23 minute wait at Shrewsbury station while a working radio was found (eventualy the train was given permission to continue without a radio) the train arrived so late at Machynellth it was terminated there. A taxi was provided to go to Aberystwth which apparently the third time that week the taxi firm had done the trip for Arriva trains.... On the return journey the same day the train arrived 15 minutes late, overheated and arrived so late at Wolverhampton it terminated there.
The Arriva staff were helpful and did their best, but is there no way more reliable equipment could be provided. How are more people going to be encouraged to use the train if it remains so unreliable?

On Monday 22/11/04 I had been hoping to travel from Llandrindod Wells to Saundersfoot. I arrived at the station in plenty of time to catch the 10.24 (or thereabouts) and I was told it was cancelled and with no replacement. I was forced to dash to Newtown for the next train from there and that train journey took me longer and cost me more. Why was there no replacement to the train on the Heart of Wales line? We've passed your query on to Arriva Trains Wales. Mid Wales Web Team

Why do you have to wait an hour for a connection in Craven Arms when travelling from Knighton to Hereford? Could the trains be scheduled better?
In response to Chris' query, Arriva Trains Wales said: "We compile our timetables with great care and experience and look to make as many connections as possible. There are a huge number of potential connections on our routes and connections have to be made with other services at major stations such as Shrewsbury, Crewe, Newport and Manchester.
Where we can't schedule them all, we prioritise them according to greatest demand, greatest potential demand and alternative connections. We also seek to make them achievable and dependable. We are also mindful of regular local passenger flows, for example schoolchildren and commuters.
We'll judge each case individually: it's very often impossible to please everyone, so we try to please the largest number."

I live 10 miles from Newtown, why is there not a train available to the coast without going to Shrewsbury
We contacted Arriva Trains Wales for a response: "There is a two hourly train service from Newtown to Machynlleth, Borth and Aberystwyth. There are also services up the Cambrian Coast to Barmouth and Pwllheli from Machynlleth. There is no need to go to Shrewsbury to get to the Cardigan Bay Coast from Newtown."
