Welsh Super Cup 2007

Footballers

Last updated: 01 August 2007

John O'Leary is one of the organisers of the Welsh Super Cup football tournament taking place in Aberystwyth in July 2007. Here he outlined the events planned for the football festival.

"Team Tours Direct were pleased to be operating one of the UK's top international summer tournament in 2007.

For many teams their visit to the wonderful seaside resort of Aberystwyth is carved into their calendar many months in advance.

The event staff are very excited at the prospect of running the tournament in 2007. An opening ceremony will include live music, a professional MC, fireworks display and entertainment for the players, supporters, coaching staff and their family members to enjoy.

An International flag parade and traditional walk through the town of Aberystwyth will complete the opening festivities.

The football will commence on the Monday with the pool stages completed on the Wednesday, depending on where you finish after the pool stages you will go on to one of three tournaments "The Welsh Super Cup, The Welsh Challenge Cup & The TTD Welsh Shield".

Quarterfinals, semi finals and the finals of each of the events are then played on the Thursday and the Friday.

All teams remain in a competitive tournament for four out of the five days of football. As always the fixtures will be played on the outstanding playing fields at the University of Aberystwyth and in true Team Tours Direct tradition the standard of the cups and individual awards on offer will be worthy of this prestigious event.

To round off the week there will be a farewell party on the Friday evening for teams to say their good byes to their new friends and to the old acquaintances from previous years.

Throughout the week there will be activities in the evenings with penalty shoot outs, hit the bar competitions, pool tournaments, disco's, live entertainment and all week long each days fixtures will be played back in the evenings on a number of flat screen televisions at the university.

By November 2006 over one thousand persons from many countries such as New Zealand, America, Canada, Malta, Ireland, Wales & England to name just a few who have reserved places in the UK's No'1 summer tournament.
