Borth Masters 2005

In October 2005, Borth beach staged its first major surfing competition. Holly Rees from Llanon sent in these photographs from the event which she hopes will become an annual fixture. Photographs by Owain Raw-Rees.

I am 29 now and not getting any younger. I have done a lot of water sports i.e. sailing, canoeing, wind surfing, pulling etc. I have not done surfing, so I am thinking about taking it up. I have looked at these photos and they are awesome, Borth is the ideal location for where I live (it's not too far away). I just want to know where to start looking for lessons or equipment. Is there anywhere near mid wales for this?

Remember Borth in August 2004 - 5ft clean swell appeared one morning, had an awesome session surfing the beach breaks and watching tube riders on the shallow reefs under Borth Head. Nice.
