"Maltese player Joseph Mifsud, ranked 16th in the World, won the Welsh International Table Football Festival in Knighton (Powys) held on 24th and 25th October 2005, beating Frenchman Jean-Guillaume Einsle 2-0 in the final.

Englishman Bob Varney pulled off one of the shocks of the season, beating former World Champion David Ruelle (Belgium) 4-3 after extra time at the quarter final stage. Varney was eliminated at the Semi Final stage by Mifsud after the Maltese player was avoided a controversial goal to win the tie 2-1.
Players from the other home nations failed to make a significant impact on the tournament, with Wales' David Lauder being eliminated by Philipe Hipfinger (Belgium), Scotland's Mike Burns and Bob Ramsay being knocked out at the Last 16 stage and Northern Ireland's Eoin Adams failing to make it out of his group.
The club team competition was won by AS Hennuyer (Mons, Belgium), who beat EPL (Bristol) 2-0 in the final.
Meanwhile, the unofficial national team competition was won by Malta, who beat Scotland in the final.

Results worthy of note in earlier stages include Englishman Kaspar Bennett gaining an unexpected victory over World female champion Delphine Dieudonne (Belgium), and a brilliant 4-1 victory for 19 year old Mat Lampitt (England) over Belgian star Laurent Goor, who was expected to win the tie easily."
