In the 90's I remember going to see Welshpool Town FC play at The Maesydre because there was talk about them being promoted to The League Of Wales. The team played in black shorts and white shirts with Patrick on them which were referred to as 'The Patrick Shirts.' They struggled in a division that was dominated by Barry Town but The Maesydre was always a good time on a Saturday Afternoon. I remember a lot of the players like Neil Salisbury, Phil Bates, Steve Hamner, Marcus Lokier, Trevor Clarke, Jason Yates and Damon Russell who was the Steve Rogers of the 90's except we called him "Dam! o" and not "Jolly." When Barry Town came to The Maesydre in 1997 I met Gary Barnett!

i can't believe that welshpool town has sold it's identity. what about all the past fighters of this club they made it the club it is today and as soon as a company flash a bit of cash they sell the name under a new assumed COMPANY name, might as well let the company manage the team too as it aint never guna be the same again

can someone from the club confirm that as welshpool play on a public recreation ground that they are not able to prevent anyone watching the games or entering the ground without payment. surely its about time the club got a proper pitch as they cannot move on as things are

There were over 3000 in attendance at the Montgomeryshire cup final between Montgomery town and Llanymynech in 1959. Chester in the Welsh Cup in 1978 saw a crowd of over 900.

U could do with signing another striker / midfielder like Tony Richards who was at Presteigne a couple of years ago, class player.

Im on cloud nine at the minute! Never expected the boys to be right up amongst the big boys this season! Fair play to Rhyl mind. The two of us are showing just how much Welsh football is coming along and how we are more than capable of keeping up with the full timers! I hope we can keep hold of Tomi Morgan though, there are bound to be big clubs sniffing round him at the rate he's going!!

Is McKenna going to Rhyl when Hulse retires at the end of the season? It would be shame for TNS but might be a fresh start for the new Oswestry and Llansantffraid club, especially if they go part time.

Tommi Morgan and Jimmy Hunter have done a great job so far in the league (shame about the cup results) keep it up lads and we'll finish in top 6 this year. Congratulations to all at the club, hope to be back in Welshpool soon.

Welshpool have had a great start to the season keep it up lads. Having watched the reservers on saturday I don't think it will be long until they're in the top half of the table . What I find hard to see is what does Neil Breeze do from what I have seen Lloyd Chaney is the one doing the hard work from the touchline he kicks every ball. But obviously it must work Neil being manager.

When is Tommy Morgan going to start whizz kid Jon Jones. He was superb all through pre season and deserves his chance more than anybody. For a 16 year old he is out of this world! Up the lilly whites!
