Saturday 4 November
"There was a rather varied group of fixtures this week as the J Emrys Morgan Cup reached the second round stage. There was also one fixture in Division One, and two in Division Two.
We start in Division One, where Llanilar, having had their Emrys Morgan tie called off, faced UWA Reserves. The previous encounter ended in a surprise 3-2 win for the students at Blaendolau, but the return fixture saw Llanilar gain their revenge as goals from Stephen Hughes, Richard Pugh and Dylan Morris secured a comfortable 3-0 win.
That victory sees Llanilar rise above the students, though they have played four more games than them. The rest of the Division One table remains the same.
Division Two leaders Aberystwyth Town Thirds maintained their unbeaten league run, as they strolled to a 4-2 victory over Penparcau Reserves. Mark Hughes, Rob Davies, Craig Richardson and Louis Hunt were on the mark for Aber, with Jamie Walker and Stephen Davies replying for Penparcau.
UWA Thirds rose to fourth in Division Two with a 3-1 win over Dolgellau Reserves. Tom Redman, Jim Wright and Atushi Suzuki got the goals for the students, with Ieuan Brooks getting Dolgellau's consolation. The Thirds' rise confirms that student football has risen in quality after last year's poor performances by the Reserves and the Thirds.
Most other teams were playing in the Emrys Morgan Cup. League leaders Tregaron gained a 5-1 win at Abermiwl, Talybont sustained a 3-0 defeat at Bishop's Castle, Dolgellau defeated Machynlleth 5-2 in an all Aberystwyth League clash, Llanon won by 2 goals to 0 at home to Berriw, Aberdyfi crashed 6-1 at Maesglas, Penparcau demolished Radnor Valley 8-0, and Trawsgoed secured an excellent 6-4 win at home to S.D.U.C Lampeter.
This weekend's fixtures are a real pick-and-mix of cup games and league clashes. First up is the Cwpan Ceredigion Round 2, which sees Machynlleth at home to Cardigan, while Tregaron take on Llanon. The Len & Julia Newman Memorial Trophy kicks off with Trawsgoed putting their recent revival to the test against Bow Street Reserves.
There are three Division One and three Division Two fixtures. Struggling Aberdyfi require a win at home in the tough fixture against Penparcau. Bow Street will seek to maintain the pressure at the top of the league with a win against UWA Reserves at Cae Piod, while Padarn and Talybont fight out a mid-table clash.
In Division Two Tywyn/Bryncrug Reserves will seek to keep pace at the top with three points against struggling Dolgellau Reserves, UWA Thirds look to continue a good start to the season at home to Talybont Reserves, and basement side Penparcau Reserves look for their first win of the season against Penrhyncoch Thirds.
The Central Wales Challenge Cup reaches its round 2 stage, with title chasers Bont seeking a cup win at home to Maesglas, Llanilar face a tough trip to Dyffryn Banw, and Dolgellau also travel out of the region to face Rhosgoch Rangers.
In the Emrys Morgan Cup, two sides from the region play their round 2 fixtures. Penrhyncoch Reserves look to kick-start what has been a disappointing campaign so far with a win at home to Bargod Rangers, while Corris face a tough home fixture against Dewi Stars. Good luck to all Aber League teams."
