A new awards scheme was launched in June 2009 to recognise and reward Powys-based businesses. Mid Wales Manufacturing Group and Powys County Council launched the Powys Business Awards to highlight and celebrate business successes across all sectors.

Nominations are welcome for the 2009 awards. The categories are:
Business of the Year sponsored by Powys County Council.
Export Award sponsored by HSBC.
Innovation Award sponsored by Welsh Assembly Government.
Growth Award sponsored by Finance Wales.
Manufacturing Award sponsored by Mid Wales Manufacturing Group.
Small Business Award sponsored by Federation of Small Businesses.
Social Enterprise/Charity Award sponsored by Mid-Wales Housing Association Ltd.
Start up Business Award sponsored by TGAL - Tattum Guest Associate Ltd.
Training & Development Award sponsored by Coleg Powys.
Young Entrepreneur sponsored by Cambrian News & Brecon & Radnor Express.
The awards will be presented at a black-tie presentation evening later this year.
