St Harmon: In Pictures
St Harmon is a small, rural village, about three miles from Rhayader. It has a population of around 400 people, including outlying farms and smallholdings. During winter, it's often one of the coldest places on record. Take a virtual tour around the place by clicking through our slideshow.

If Linda Gale from Farnborough is still looking for a copy of 'A Glimpse of Beautiful Mid Wales' I know that Monty himself has a small stock of them. You're right to want to move here - beautiful country and lovely people.

I visited Wales in 2005. I was at St. Harmon searching the Graveyard. My 3x Grandfather, John Jones, from Dolwen, was buried there 26, July, 1831.It is a beautiful area, Close to Llangurig, where my Owen relatives were from.

I am 60 in a few weeks and was born in Pantydwr and lived there until age 18; son of 'Eddie' Jones, the garage mechanic and bus driver. My memories are of very cold winters with snow drifts as high as the hedges, with pathways 'bulldozed' through them, and of helicopter drops of bread. As a child, I often spent time on land near the river in St Harmon, building huts, swimming and riding bikes. Halycon days! At 11, the 'electric' arrived for the first time, so not surprising that a few years after graduating I spent 20+ years in that industry. Childhood fascination never dies. A little older, being driven home from Rhayader late at night, I had an intimate encounter with the tree by 'The Sun'; the car was reversed off and dented prides and body work continued home to Green Villa. Best wishes Monty

Love St Harmons! Love its one street, one phonebox, one bench dedicated to Prince William and even its milk bottle container! I especially like all the Pierrot events which take place in the area.
