My father was born in Presteigne in 1901, and lived with his parents and siblings in a bakery in Broad Street until they emigrated to Australia in 1911. The family name is Morris, with my father's father being Henry, and my father (one of about 9 children) called Colin. William played the organ in the Baptist Church (or so I believe). I have travelled from Australia to live and work in the UK and trace my ancestory. Will be visiting Presteigne in a few weeks time to find my father's house. I have a photo.

I visited Presteigne recently - does anyone know where the Salvation Army met in Presteigne (around the 1890s/1900s I believe)?

I lived at 31 Hereford Street. My grandfather was bandmaster and my father drove the fire engine. I went to the grammar school and worked in the post office.
