Trip on the Brecon Canal

By Marina Cox from Pontypridd

Oh Merlin, Oh Merlin, what a wonderful sight
You were on the towpath that late August night
The rain it was pouring but you didn't mind
You trod along slowly as you pulled us behind
All of the people sat in the boat
While you and your crew men kept us afloat.

The scenery was beautiful, I felt so serene,
The trees all around us were lovely and green
The music was playing we all sang a song,
And still you were carefully plodding along
You touched all our hearts
We love you of course
I must tell you Merlin
You'e a fantastic horse.
