An almost cloudless sky, a tangerine sun suspended just above the horizon,
residual tendrils of the day's heat escape the golden ball.
Majestic mountains stretch as far as my eye's reach.
Delicate at first sight, but undoubtedly hardy given our location, yellow flowers adorn clumps of heather dotted
about our mountainside.
The road meanders from the west, our lay-by it's crescendo before the dramatic drop to the valley floor,
from here I see only the pinnacle, can only anticipate what is to come.
Only the tip of the sinking sun remains visible, pink tinged clouds surround it.
There's a distinct chill in the air now and with only t-shirts and cotton pants about our persons I fear we'll
remain here little longer!
The sky above has taken on the appearance of candy floss, yet if I could reach this 'floss' I feel sure it would
caress my cheek, rather than stick to my hair!
The sun has disappeared now, yet the sky all aglow still tells of the beautiful day that's gone before
and another we hope will dawn tomorrow.
Headlights now light the pass beneath, the traffic flow is lessening, moments of sheer silence can be 'heard'.
This is peace beyond measure, with heaven at my feet, above my head and by my side.
