The sea clutches the pebbles away
and soothes
their jagged souls smooth.
the therapist of the ocean
feeds the fish life with microscopic
love as it swirls and boils.
it rises to accept the paddling people
as they invade.
But they do not conquer.
The principal of the coast washes
away the unknowing of the land.
This land, oh this land!
How it breathes with the salt and sludge
As Mankind walks to the mountain-tops so do they
Dwell in the valleys. As the ivy leeches the masonry
The trees swell and rise.
The colossus of the coast continues to crack
Its waves upon the boundary of man and salt.
The wall grows around the cities but they dissolve and break
A man from inland. Birmingham perhaps, sees the life on the precipice.
The wind shirks me in, I must escape this onslaught of nature
He exclaims to the heavens as if Llyr is reborn,
As the fish-hunter smiles into the horizon.
The glowing ball of fire rents his cheeks apart
And a smile shines as this pebble accepts his destiny.
