Daffies

By Christopher Challener from Llanwrtyd Wells

Dancing Daffodils?
I don't think so.
Slimline,
Sun-seeking,
Driven ducklings
With eggyolk
Ever-ready mouths.
Twitching pointlessly,
Fruitlessly.

Bringing the news
In their all-weather attire.
Shivering,
Imperceptibly,
In icy North-Easters
As the Sun's arc
Climbs higher
Up the hill

Who
Took time to
Plant them
In that hedge
So far from
House or road?
