Aberystwyth Castle

Aberystwyth Castle was built by Edward I in the thirteenth century as part of his campaign to quell the quarrelsome Welsh. At a later stage in its life, the castle was captured by Owain Glyndwr.

In the centre of what are now the castle ruins stands a bardic circle of stones, built to mark the visit to the town by the National Eisteddfod in 1916.
