James Thomson published 'Spring' in his poem'The Seasons' in the 1720s. One of his patrons was a man called Lyttleton. This generous man lived in Hagley Park. From lines 901 to 959 there is a description of the Park, from whose highest point the climber can see the Cambrian Hills. This was the century when Wales enjoyed a great vogue among artists and tourists. Judging by your pictures, they had good taste. I don't think Lyttleton would object to a wind-farm. In fact, if he had the same spirit of enterprise as many of the land-owners of his time, he would probably have so! ught to erect one.

Great Photos. Makes me want to visit the area even more. Was wondering if anyone can help. Seen a program/news article a few months back about a hostel/bunkhouse in mid wales. No electric or mobile phone reception and located in a very isolated location. Assume it was in Cambrian mountains, but can't be sure. Any help would be appreciated. many thanks in advance.

Wonderful, atmospheric pictures - shame about the wind farm though, still it is becoming ever more difficult to be in the Cambrian mountains and not have a windfarm blighting the view. Early protection of the hills is vital because we have no rights to despoil these unique uplands, some local farmers are becoming more aware of the value of natural diversity (the more recent Defra subsidy schemes make it vital that they do!) and others pay lip service to legislation and maintain their traditional destructive farming methodology.

Lovely photos Martin, I can see these beautiful Mountains from my house, I consider myself very lucky! The wind turbines do not bother me one bit as hopefully they will contribute to future generations being able to enjoy the same stunning scenery.

Thank you for the photographs, Martin. When I lived near Aberystwyth, the Cambrian mountains were a favourite destination for walking and relaxing and just to admire the sheer beauty of the area. it should have some protection at least by becoming an AONB.
