"Andrew always dreamed of opening a museum whilst he was alive. He wanted somewhere to display examples of work he'd created over the decades.
In 1988 Andrew purchased some redundant squash courts in Berriew and in 1991 the dream became a reality when the Andrew Logan Museum of Sculpture (ALMS) opened to the public as the only museum in Europe dedicated to a living artist.
Within the museum you will find pieces of sculpture, mirrored portraits and jewellery from the mid sixties to the present day.
On display, you will also find personal items, created by Andrew for painter Luciana Martines de la Rosa and Joan Simon Menkes, editor of the Beverley Hills Art Magazine 95201, which have been left to the museum by their estates.
In addition, you will find Andrew's series of "Birds of a Feather", which were created in the late 70's during Andrew's "mad" period, when he was a very poor depressed artist, living in a small bed-sit in South London.
Andrew Logan belongs to a unique school of English eccentrics. As one of Britain's principal sculptural artists, he challenges convention, mixes media and plays with our artistic values.
Born in Oxford in 1945, Andrew qualified in architecture in the late 1960s and has worked across the fields of decoration, sculpture, stage design, drama, opera, parades and festivals.
To him, art can be discovered anywhere. The Damian Hirst of the '70s and '80s, Logan crosses cultures and embodies artistic fantasy in a unique and unprecedented way. His work is the art of popular poetry and metropolitan glamour.

From his early fame amongst London's fashionable crowd, he has become an influential artist of international stature, with exhibitions as far afield as Los Angeles (USA), Monterrey (Mexico) and St Petersburg (Russia).
His sculptures can be found in public collections the world over; National Portrait Gallery London, National Museums & Galleries on Merseyside, Arts Council of Great Britain, the Australian Gallery of National Art Sydney, the Costume Institute Metropolitan Museum New York and Warner Bros UK.
Private collectors of his jewellery and sculptures include; the late H.M. Elizabeth the Queen Mother, Lord & Lady John Sainsbury, the late Derek Jarman, Julie Christie, Elton John, Bono, Lady Conran, Anita Pallenberg, Billy Wilder, Mr & Mrs Warren Christopher, Zandra Rhodes MBE, Larry Hagman and Warren Cucculurullo.
The Andrew Logan Museum in Berriew, however, is a small independent museum and a registered charity, run by a Board of Trustees and its income is received from entrance fees, Friend's subscriptions and retail sales. In addition, we receive some support on capital and revenue expenditure from The Arts Council Wales and The Council of Museums in Wales.
We open during the summer from 12-6 but we will open any time, any day, by prior arrangement, for private, educational and group visits, and weddings. We have free car and coach parking and wheelchair access.
If you would like to become a Friend of the museum and receive; our quarterly newsletter, a minimum of 10% off all purchases from the museum shop, free entry for self and friend and, invitations to Andrew's studio - send a cheque for £20 (made out to ALMS Ltd) and post to: Andrew Logan Museum of Sculpture, Berriew, Nr Welshpool, Powys SY21 9PJ. Same goes for donations!"
