Jason Evans from Newtown is in no doubt where he stands on this issue:
Jason:"Most of the objections against this move are because people are concerned about losing their park area - For goodness sake just walk over the bridge and you are in Dolerw - how much grass do you want?"
Tom Jones from Newtown sent us this comment in October 2007:
Tom:"I always enjoy walks everday in the park with my dog. And it is really nice. Recking it for this stupid sport is appalling!"
Kelvin Pugh from Newtown supports the move.
Kelvin:"I've been a local resident in Newtown since 1989. I agree with the move of the bowling club. Newtown is a growing community it is a town in development. Where do you think new stuff for the town is going to go? Lots of our older genaration use the bowling club. Do you expect them to walk all the way to the outskirts of town plus the proposed supermarket? Would it not be nice to get off a bus in the town centre, do all your shopping there get back on the bus and go home instead of the trek to the outskirts of the town. I'm sure that would be benenficial to the older people of Newtown. You all talk as if they are taking the whole of park up for this project. You know this isn't so. Come one let's get this into prospective."
Tracey from Newtown is opposed to the move:
Tracey:"The bowling club should not go on Dolerw park. Why do they have to build there what will happen when the town has local events? Where will the children play? Why do they have to move from where they are? I totally disagree with the idea of them going on Dolerw park."
Philip Glynn is in no doubt where he stands on the issue:
Philip:"I have been given a copy of the plans and it an appalling suggestion, this application would destroy the park. By taking up the whole of the green area behind the café this development would remove one of the prime sites in the area for recreation in it's many forms. I see no benefits at all for this proposal other than that it would benefit the Bowling Club who would be able to sell off their existing site. When I heard that suggestion I assumed they had a site earmarked out of town somewhere, not in the park itself. Truly an outrageous suggestion."
