" Architect Frank Hearn Shayler of Shewsbury. The Powys Pevsner thinks this the best building in Newtown and it's difficult not to agree. The framed Montgomershire building vernacular is given an Arts & Crafts' twist in the upper stories, while the base is a confident striped stone and brick. A neat little corner details separates two different, but complimentary, elavations which supplied two quarrelling clients with individual looking parts to the same building, just as required or perhaps demanded of their architect."

Mr J Williams, Bettws Cedewain
ref 17 High St; Excellent work,a real credit to the "Sandblaster" who had a hard time to complete the work in such limited time, space and daylight, considering most of the work was done at night
