My husband and myself first visited New Quay in 2007 and we have been back since. We love the area so much that we want to buy a home there eventually. The people, the pubs, the views, the beaches, basically everything about New Quay is fantastic.

I visited Newquay from an early age with an "adopted" auntie. All her family were from Newquay. I have happy memories of Milford House. I moved to Newquay in 1980 with my own family. It is a lovely place to bring a family up in . But sadly no employment when they leave school. We moved to Leicester. I still miss Newquay and visit when i can. I would love to retire there.

I grew up in New-Quay from the age of nine to the time I left for Aberystwyth University. I have to agree with some of the other comments that second home owners are in the process of wiping out something special in the village. One row of houses now has only one resident in Winter! It then kills local shops and the welsh language. In 1980 everyone spoke welsh, now it is a rarity. In the bay Spanish trawlers are bottom dredging in a protected area without any comeback. See it now everyone before it is too late. It is though, still the most special of places.

I grew up in New Quay and though I haven't visited since 1993 it's still in my heart. Reading other people's comments reminded me of swimming between the big pier and the little pier and bumping into a porpoise, getting stuck on the cliffs and having to have the lifeboat turn out to rescue me and my friends. All this is a long time ago, but it was a wonderful place to grow up.

We've been going to newquay for about 6 years, 2 or 3 times a year. Each time we go it feels like home! the scenery is beautiful, the people are friendly and each time we go we are usually blessed with good weather. They serve delicious food at a reasonable price and it is one of Wales best kept secrets. We're looking forward to going again in a few weeks!

I've been going to New Quay since I was 6 years old and am again coming for our annual heavenly trip with my own family. There is no where on earth quite like it - agreed that everyone can afford to be decadent in the pound shop - our first stop always for plastic swords - for sons and husband too!It is a shame that the property prices have gone up so much for locals as they give the place it's incredible friendly character and make it SO special. Mwnt and New Quay were both featured in the Evening Standard last Friday - a real shame as it needs to be kept quiet!Don't tell anyone else!

New Quay is a wonderful place, we try to get down once a year as a family. It's the only time of the year I take my watch off and forget about the time or even what day it is. So relaxing, a truely lovely place. + I can aford to shop at the pound shop.

I first came to New Quay or Ceinewydda a child coming on a "trip ysgol Sul" Sunday school trip from Tumble, and then returned many times on holiday when the children were small. These days a day spent in the Cei is as good as a week anywere else, to sit on the harbour wall is to experience a tranquility I find hard to equal. Dioch Cei.

My family has been closely linked to New Quay for over 100 years and I adore the whole area; sadly work has forced me away and I do not visit as often as I would like. However, New Quay is a such an idyllic and calming place, one always feels totally reinvigorated - even after only a short stay. This is true whatever one's age - whether you want to play on the sand as a kid, enjoy the excitement of any of the water-sports opportunities, or just to go for a peaceful walk on the beach as age catches up with you. For Jane and those who are rightly upset about the price of local housing, I can only sympathise. It is a simple case of 'supply and demand', where 'money talks'..sadly! Of course, the current fall in the housing market may help you but I agree that that 'affordable housing' should be a high priority - have you written to the council? You are also within your rights to complain that, in the winter, the town can get very quiet. Nonetheless, you should not be surprised to know that this is not a new phenomenon; it has been so for many, many years and is part of the 'charm' of the place!

I started going to New Quay when I was 9 to a site called Don Everells which is now Quay West. My dad was evacuated there for 2 years to Morawel on the front. One year we went and we saw who he lived with, Mrs Jones and we had tea. My dad was Barney and his brother George lived down the road.I am 44 now and take my mum 76 and dad 80 back every year with my husband and children. Just like me my children love it, its such a beautiful place with wonderful memories. On a sunny day you cant beat it. We have been twice this year 2008 and seeing the dolphins again was great. The watersports are brilliant too. Would never tire of going to New Quay just wish it was nearer!

I really miss New Quay, my grandparents used to live near Carmarthen and we used to visit once or twice a year from when I was a baby until I was about 14yrs old. I'm now 24. Apart from a trip a couple of years ago I haven't been. My parents rented a flat above the spar shop for a couple of years and I used to sit on the window sill eating fish and chips, watching the dolphins leap out of the water at dusk. It's a magical place and somewhere I will always remember! The shell shop rocks!

I was born in New Quay 18 Dec 1969. I have now been away for 22 years. I miss New Quay very much and would love to live there again. The housing market will be the only reason I stay away. There are great people who live there, including my beautiful parents Rhiannon & Derek. I try and get back as often as possible but work commitments keep me away. I do love New Quay.

I love new quay, I've holidayed there many times. My dream home would be in New Quay. How lucky those people who live in New Quay are, I live in the south wales valleys in an ex mining village. Property here has also become very expensive and there are few jobs that pay more than the minimum wage. I understand janes comments, but without tourism what would become of New Quay? all areas of wales have had to diversify to survive, New Quay has done a good job of this, and its still got great charactor, great people and most of all great views. I know where id prefer to live, and its not the valleys of south wales I hasten to add. I look forward to staying in New Quay again in 2008. Yes its a little gem of which we in Wales should be proud. The times they are a changing but New Quay retains its wonderful character and I love it to bits!

New Quay has sold out. There is no affordable houses for locals who wants to live here all year round. Thanks to all the summer houses, who don't contribute to anything.New Quay is losing everything, they want to shut down the Memorial Hall now.New Quay was a great place, but now. No jobs for local people, no houses for locals.

A long time visitor to New Quay and Cei Bach, it remains close to our hearts. We got engaged there, bought our wedding ring there and after a disasterous visit to Jersey, wish we'd now spent our Silver Anniversary there.A special place, peaceful, inviting, a real jewel.

Yeah new quay is great in the summer, but once the winter comes, it's a ghost town. ALl the houses empty because they are summer houses, no locals can afford to live there. No jobs, yeah, New Quay is great!

We have visited New Quay for 25 years, every year! We do not do abroad. Why, when there are such tranquil, laid back places like New Quay? We have made many friends and visit as often as possible.(four or five times a year now we are retired) Looking forward to our next visit in April

Wales, no words can describe the serenity the calmness i felt upon visiting New Quay last early Sept 2007, and local areas. Peace is what I found, and the towns folk are nice and polite. If I could afford it I would move to wales. I must have taken some 900 pics and and hour of video, mainly the sea, which I am making into a slideshow and a short video to show people how beautiful a country Wales is, how fortunate I was to be there, and I hope I get the opportunity to visit again soon.

I love dolphins they are so beautiful and intelligent, i went on holiday to New Quay 2 years ago. A crowd was gathering on the harbour wall and all of us were up there watching the bottlenosed dolphins leaping out of the water in the distance, it just gives you a magical feeling inside.
Later that day I took the boat trip on Cardigan Bay where we didnt see any dolphins but on the way back to shore a dolphin stole a breath at the surface of the water and pretty much all we saw was its tail- Sadly I was only there for 4 days.
Anyway I'll be leaving my hometown Brynmawr 8th%! 20of August 2007 to go on holiday there again it will be my 2nd time there and I wish to see more dolphins this time.

I lived in New Quay for about 12 years, i now live in Cardiff. Im now at 20 years of age, I miss New Quay, but could never live there again as it can get very boring. But now i sit at work typing notes on the BBC website through boredom in a stupidly big office, for a faceless company. Its times like this i wish i was a lazy bum, living with my mum in New Quay again, doing nothing but going to the pub, dancing at local drum and bass parties, and getting mashed down the beach with lots of familiar people.

A photograph of myself on new quay beach was in 1937.... later I remember standing on Traithgwyn and hearing hymns coming over the water, from the chapel singers on the end of the pier. Then up early in the morning to go lobster fishing with Dick Evans and Stanley Carter. Great days

I've been over in New Quay every week in the last month.I got my wind surfing lessons(Big up to Ceri, cheers mate!) there and its a great place to do a bit of sailing too(cheers to duggie the skipper who's giving me the lessons). The locals are friendly and the staff at the cardigan bay water sports are a great bunch. Its a quaint and fine little town and i'm sure it must be glorious in the summer. I'd been to llangranog(about 7 miles from new quay) which is tucked away in a valley and beautifully opens out into the sea.It certainly has been one of the amazing places in mid wales that i've been to.

My little village, Castell, is approx. 3 miles from Cross Inn where I went to school for 7 years as a evacuee from liverpool. I was 5 years of age when aunty hetty took me in as her own child at velin pontbren water mill, now in Cardiff museum. I was loved so much. Just feeling homesick for the velin.

I have been coming to this area since the age of 8.There is a photo of me on Newquay beach very sunburnt. That was 40 years ago.My boyfriend (now husband of 26 years) proposed at the end of the Quay. Then I brought my children here every year throughout their childhood. Now at the age of 22 (twin daughters) they are bringing their boyfriends here! Who needs abroad when you have Newquay and surrounding areas.

Where else in the UK can you stand so close to wild Bottlenose Dolphins? Stand on the Quay and they can be less than 10 metres away! Our two young daughters love having 'a dolphin watch' while we sit and eat our fish and chips by the Tourist Information Centre! Fantastic beaches at Newquay and on surrounding coast. Relatively quiet compared to other seaside resorts, it has an almost Cornish fishing village feel about it. Will be there next week - our 6th time! Gorgeous!!

I love New Quay because as a child aunty Hetty from Velin Pontbren Cross Inn used to take me there in slack times at the mill. You see I was an evacuee from Liverpool, for the period of the war, I was 5 at the time and Wales was my dear home. I loved the kind and loving people who brought me up. Ps Cardiff Museum know all about me as I had a very nasty accident at the Mill. You will find the Mill now rebuilt at St. Fagans.Read Doug Higginson's memories of being evacuated to New Quay...

New Quay has always been a part of my life as my family have property there. I try to visit at least once a year. The beach, views and little shops are fantastic and as it's fairly close to Aberaeron (try the honey ice cream!) and Aberystwyth (watch a stage production at the Arts Centre) you can have some great days out. Keep an eye out for dolphins!

I have loved New Quay since childhood. Fond memories of caravan holidays with my mum and siblings... all day pony treking at Cwmtudu, with meals at the farm, fresh milk out of the cooler from their herd. Such friendly people Simon, Sarah and their son Ray. Would love to retire there eventually but at present looking forward to buying holiday caravan overlooking the fantastic views of the bay.

New Quay is so beautiful, we've been coming every year for 6 years. When the lottery fairy picks my numbers, we will move to New Quay straight away. Alternatively, if anyone knows of a house to rent, let me know. You might even get a 'finders fee'.

New Quay is a fantastic place to live, it is a beautiful town. The marine wildlife found on our doorstep is amazing, we are so lucky to be able to see bottlenose dolphins, harbour porpoise and Atlantic Grey Seals to name a few species year round.
