Keira, Sienna & Matthew in New Quay

The story of Dylan Thomas brought some movie biz glamour to Mid Wales in 2007. Keira Knightley, Sienna Miller and Matthew Rhys were
in New Quay and Lampeter to film 'The Edge of Love', a film built around an infamous event in 1945 when Thomas was shot at by the husband of a mutual friend. The film is released in June 2008: These shots capture some of what went on.
The story revolves around a reputed love triangle involving Thomas, his wife Caitlin, played by Miller, and the poet's childhood friend Vera Killick portrayed by Knightley. You can read more about the film, and Matthew Rhys' feelings about playing Dylan, in

Unfortunately I was working. But I know for a fact part of it was filmed in Cardigan as they used The Black Lion Pub in the town centre. Cardigan came to a stand still that day. Why hasn't Cardigan been mentioned in the making of it anywhere?

We was on holiday at our caravan at Manorbier Country Park and went to Tenby and was told that they were in Tenby filming there was police and film crews all over the place, did they film in Tenby as it mentions nothing about Tenby but plenty about New Quay.

They are three of the nicest people you could wish to meet and all of us wish them the best of luck for the future.

I was suprised to see the house I was brought up in as the Hutton Bank ex-Barclays Bank where my father was the manager in the Film Edge of Love.I am now 80 and remember many of the characters in New Quay which are nom-de-plume in the play and as a Pritchard where does my family come out in the play and possible the film.When I went to see the animation of Under Milk Wood given by Richard Burton at the Theatre in Swansea I could visualise some of them in New Quay. I can always remember Dylan Thomas comming out of the Dolau Inn half cut wearing his scruffy pullover with a hole in it and this was the only time I remember seeing him.

It was such a buzz having the actors here in Ceredigion and within a few miles of my home.They came to eat with us in the Harbourmaster Hotel in Aberaeron. Kiera came back a couple of times-and Matthew visited again with his family before going off to the studios in London.Good luck with the film. I, like many other locals cannot wait to see New Quay on the big screen. :)
