Totals for the period: 323 Bottlenose Dolphins, 154 Atlantic Grey Seals, 44 Harbour Porpoise.
"The past three weeks have been busy ones for us here at the Cardigan Bay Marine Wildlife Center. Sightings of bottlenose dolphins may be slightly down, but sightings of Atlantic grey seals and harbour porpoises have increased dramatically.
Due to the oncoming pupping season, seals have been seen in full force. The females are hauling out onto the rocks with great frequency, while the males are beginning to pop up more and more often. Even better is that the supremely large males have arrived. These are truly massive beasts, and are really a sight to see.
44 harbour porpoises in three weeks! Wow! That's nearly a 300% increase in porpoise sightings per week you say. Sadly, the figures are misinforming. 31 of the 44 porpoises were spotted in one day. None have been spotted in the last week.
The bottlenose dolphin sightings have only decreased by a few animals per week. Don't all shout at once. They've been spotted nearly every day up and down the coast in between New Quay and Ynys Lochtyn.
On a sadder note, a sunfish was spotted. The sun, however, was no where to be found."
