Congratulations to the 100th birthday of the National Library of Wales today! NLW certainly houses a good collection of treasures. For me, as a scholar of Middle English the Hengwrt Chaucer manuscript is very interesting. My favourite exhibitions were the Kyffin Williams ones I saw there. I myself had the chance to work in one of the Library's offices for a project called the Archives Network Wales for three years. It was interesting to study the biographic histories of people such as the writer Kate Roberts for example. However, for readers and the general public, the opening times unfortunately are too short! . Exhibitions tend to be on the same old subjects and therefore not interesting enough for many people. I do not like the Library's new website. There are many inconsistencies and mistakes. If you make suggestions I wish the people there would take them more seriously. Staff who speak other languages should use them. I am from Germany. Staff could be friendlier I find even though I have found many very helpful. Do not put too much emphasis on the shop and marketing. It should always be seen as a place for good research and the use of books.
