"On a delightfully pleasant day in Aberystwyth, I pensively gazed out of my window to see myriads of students meander lazily down to the beach near my house. Similar to Alex Garland's novel, "The Beach" Aberystwyth becomes a haven for students, hedonists and adventure-seeking backpackers alike.
Conversely the beaches of Aberystwyth cannot supply the intensity and buzz that a thrill-seeker desires; even so it is a lazy place, perfect for young minds to get lost in meditative thought.
The sea, the sunset and the beach are enigmatic, sustainable sources of inspiration for much poetry, thought and pieces of art produced in Aberystwyth.
We may not have Garland`s Thai paradise, free of state intervention, but we certainly study in a gorgeous and stimulating place.
When the weather is as good as it has been recently students vacate their hollow houses and flock towards the beach.
They replace their televisions and computers with BBQs and footballs, much healthier past-times in my opinion. The students mingle in collective joy, produced by the pleasurable surrounding, people are happier and the community is more contented.
A healthier mind creates better workers in my opinion, and as long as you don't spend to much time in the sun and not working the perfect student can be formed.
A person who is educated, healthy and leaves a pithy social life is going to be a healthier adult. I advise taking a book to the beach, reading whilst accompanied by a symphony of light from the sunset is an experience no other university could supply."
