"During 2005 our Girl Guide Leader asked us if we wanted to take part in the ICE events. We jumped at the chance because we'd been learning new skills and get the chance to meet other Girl Guides from across Wales.
In November 2005 we visited Broneirion, Llandinam; the girl guiding headquarters for Mid Wales, in order to learn more about the project. There were about 20 of us from across Wales. We were there for 2 nights and got the chance to visit the Centre for Alternative Technology Centre in Pantperthog near Machynlleth. It was great because we got to know each other better, and learnt a number of environmental issues.
It was snowing the next time we met up in February 2006. 18 of us met up in Cefn Lea in Dolfor near Newtown. We took part in various activities relating to International Community work, such as Fair Trade, Farming, Recycling and the environment generally. We learnt how people live in other countries as well as the landscape and culture of those countries.
During June 2006 we all met up again for a camping weekend at Broneirian, Newtown. This was a chance for us to plan activities for the main week of ICE activities, which were going to be held across Wales during July. We had a sheet of paper to brainstorm for Community events and trips. We all decided to have ICE T-Shirts and bags prepared. Everybody wanted to visit the Millennium Stadium and Centre in Cardiff as well as meeting up in the Royal Welsh Show.
We had a lovely week. We spent 3 days in Cardiff; Sunday was spent visiting St Fagans and the Millennium Stadium while on Monday we got a chance to visit the Millennium Centre and the Bay.
On Tuesday 25 July 2006 we visited a Community Farm called Forest Tree Farm in Cardiff. It's a garden farm and we got the chance to make wildlife habitats, finish work and weed the garden. After that, we went bird watching. It was hard work but it was a good experience to have because we did something good for someone else.
We left Cardiff on Wednesday morning and headed up to Mid Wales for the Royal Welsh Show. Here we got the chance to help with the running of the show, and some girl guides even got the chance to help in the main Royal Welsh office! It was a great day.
After a day in the Royal Welsh Show we headed up North to visit castles in Chirk. We also went rock climbing, swimming and other leisure activities.
It was a great experience and very much appreciated and enjoyed by everyone. We all had a good time and we'd encourage other girl guides to take part!!"

This is fantastic! I was one of the 5 leaders on the ICE project and it was a pleasure to be involved! We had a great time and I am so pleased that the girls enjoyed it as much as it says here - it really means a lot to hear the feedback.

Nadia (from Montgomery)
I was one of the five guides from Montgomery that went on the ice week. It was a big and long build up to the final week but turned out to be an worthwhile experience. I enjoyed it very much and had the chance to go places that I wouldnt have been able to under normal circumstances. It was an unforgettable experiece that will stay with me always.
