This week the shops have competed in a 'best carved pumpkin' competition. It was fantastic - everyone put in lots of effort. The winner was the 'Tattoo' shop.

Perhaps Steve Meredith you don't have children so therefore know nothing about what the children can do here in Llani. I love Llani, was born and brought up here and I'm now bring up my own children here. Can not think of a better, nicer place to live.

Llanidloes is a freindly, quiet town (except when its carnival or fancy dress)everyone says hello to you, and brightens your day. Great for walks, and if you want to see some old buildings, there's plenty.Beautiful dam.

I visited Llani over 20 years ago. My family was originally from there and left a good hundred years from now! I met my cousin Jane and her husband Geraint, sons Dylan and Rowan and their Great Auntie Elsie. The farm was so beautiful, the place felt like home. I brought it back to family in my heart and have always hoped to go back again.

I love our Town, it has something for everyone, great places to eat, socialise, beautiful scenery and great walks, and plenty of outdoor adventuring to be had, plus historic and cultural activity. Look out for the key events of Fancy Dress, the Green Fair, and the Quilting exhibitions, these draw people from far and wide. What is my favourite aspect of Llani? The friendliness of the people, this area is full of people kind hearts and community spirit.

Interesting history and architecture, with good pubs, chippy, and cafes. I'm also researching my family history. I always feel at home in Llanidloes, even though I'm just passing through.

I lived in Llani from 1944-53 and went to the Board School. My father Cecil was born there and captained Llani football team in the late '40's; My Grandfather Jack also played for Llani winning the Welsh Cup in the 20's. I still occasionally visit Llani, it stiil retains its charm

I was born in Tyndrain, New Chapel,1935, then moved to Penpompren Cwmbelan. Llanidloes has always been a special place to me even though I hardly visit now. I was holidaying in New Zealand, checking out at the counter a man came and said,"You come from Llanidloes". What an amazing thing. We spent some time chatting about our favourite haunts in Llanidloes. It was very special to me. I left Llanidloes in 1955.

I spent many summers at my nan's in Caegwyn and learnt how to play cricket with Wally, Butch and Mike Jones. I now am Cricket Development Officer for Glamorgan Cricket Club. Llani is a top town and has a big place in my heart. Shame no junior cricket?

Looks a great little town. Will be visiting with my wife soon to have a look around and see the church where my ancestors Richard and Sarah Lloyd were married in 1839. Would be pleased to hear from any present day Lloyds who may have them listed on their family tree. What is the best restaurant in town?

Born in Llani many years ago, moved out after 30 years, still come back regulary still my 'home', miss the warmth of the local people, don't let the 'imports' takeover otherwise we will lose that local friendliness and hospitality. Nice to see a comment from Andy (Sutton Coldfield) I played football with him around the same time, though I am 4 years younger. Still make the effort to get back to the Van, nowhere like this village on earth. Have a meal in the Red Lion, Geoff and Eileen are most welcoming and the food is great. Coming home at the end of August, hope to meet some old school and drinking friends.

Hats off to Benji & co for doing fancy dress again. I just hope that people recognise the time and effort thats put in to make this event happen, its a shame that more people dont get involved to help. Llani is quiet enough at the best of times so its good for the town to benefit, and its great to see everyone enjoying the evening.

Born & bred in Newtown, Llani has adopted me. Llani is like Newtown used to be - a real community spirit & incredibly friendly people. I love it! Many happy memories - I think! - of Llani Fancy Dress.

Llani is now my adopted second home after I spent some time working on the Mill in Shortbridge St. I made some great friends there, and hope to return as often as I can. The town has a unique character all it's own, and lacks nothing in terms of hospitality or good company. It is a little bit of 'Welsh Heaven' long may it remain so!

Hi,you may remember me from such years as 1986 and 1992. I was the speccy, nerdy kid who moved to north Wales.
Anyway, I was thinking about coming down over the Christmas period, so I'll see you all around.

Possibly the most underated town in Mid Wales, but I hope for everyone's sake it never changes. It will always be home & there is not a place on earth quite like Llani ! Only sorry we can't afford to buy a house there & come back !! Feel sorry for the (local) youngsters trying to buy. Can't beat The Crown & The Angel for a taste of real Llani... see you soon

I had the pleasure of attending Llani High (and being Head boy) and playing for the Daffs back in the mid 60's, before I went to University in Liverpool.
No matter where I am in the world, Llanidloes (and Pantydwr) will always be home: friendly; nice pubs; clean air.

I think that you should visit Llanidloes because of the many attributes that it has. It has a very successful football and cricket team who I would advise coming to see. There is also a very well established rugby team situated on the out skirts of Llanidloes. Many thanks to Mr. Ieuan Davies, Les Jones and Huw Jenkins.

I visited the air display on Saturday (24 July 2004) for the first time ever even though i lived in Llanidloes for most of my school life and i was very impressed. My wife and i had a very enjoyable time and i would like to congratulate the people responsible for organising such a well planned event, the only disappointment was the fact that my sister Glenys who invited us over spent all Friday in Gobowen hospital due to a fall and breaking her wrist. I would like to wish Glenys a speedy recovery.Again well done to the organisers.
