"It has been another successful year for the festival with a capacity crowd coming from all over the world to take part in this upbeat and eclectic range of music, performance and workshops.
The festival organisers weren't able to hold off the rain but the mood over the weekend was definitely sunny with people of every age finding something to suit their tastes.
The festival kicked off on Friday 4th July with five individual music venues as well as a Cabaret, Kids' Field, Green Crafts, Healing Area and a Cinema located within the restored part of the building itself.
The marquee stage, or This Stage, had the crowd bouncing along to internationally renowned musical acts such as Dr Meaker and Sicknote. Meanwhile the dedicated dance music venue, the Electronic Boutique, drew the festival goers in with a funky mix of the finest dance music pumped through a state of the art system.
Down at the other end of the field the entertainment took a slightly more sedate but equally popular turn while festival goers sipped cocktails and relaxed to watch comedy, puppet and burlesque performances in the Cabaret tent and chilled out acoustic acts in the Twisted Melon venue.
The Workhouse is a boutique festival and is spread over a relatively small area, this makes it highly accessible. As festival goers strolled around the field and buildings they could take part in holistic therapies in the Healing area, get involved in carpentry, sculpture or textile workshops in the Green Crafts and then retire into the cinema to sit back and enjoy any one of the varied films from around the world.
Those with families or just with a taste for the sillier side of life could enjoy circus, puppetry and craft workshops in the Kids' Domain where clowns, cycling pianists and friendly witches all came together to produce a riot of colour and fun.
The Workhouse Festival has become a valuable addition to Wales' summer event calendar and brings interest and support from all over the world.
The Llanfyllin Workhouse is a community run project which aims to provide an arts, education and heritage centre for the local and global community to enjoy.
With this goal in mind the community have recently bought the workhouse building and all the profits from the annual festival go into maintaining and restoring this magnificent structure.
Work has already begun and local volunteers and employees have created workshop space, an indoor venue and residential space around the building.
The next project will be the creation of a remembrance garden. This garden will be a tranquil space, open to the whole community and visitors, with a focus on reflecting on the past, present and future of the old workhouse."
