Careers Wales Mid Glamorgan and Powys provides free careers information, advice and guidance for people of all ages. Marketing & Information Co-ordinator, Barbara Landers describes the services provided in Powys:

"In Powys we have three full time Careers Centres and one part-time centre. We also deliver services at a number of community locations. To contact your nearest centre check our website listed to the right of this page, call 0800 1830283, or call in at:

• Brecon Careers Centre, Ground Floor, 48 Free Street, Brecon LD3 7BN

• Llandrindod Wells Careers Centre, The Lindens, Spa Road, Llandrindod Wells LD1 5EQ

• Newtown Careers Centre, St David's House, New Road, Newtown SY16 1RB

We have a Careers Adviser at each of the high schools in Powys and at the three Coleg Powys sites to advise students on subject choices, options at age 16, 17 and 18 and career choices.

If you are age 16 to 19 and looking for work or training, we offer a vacancy service to help you find the job or training place you want.

Our Careers Centres have information about jobs, careers, courses and the local employment scene. You can use the internet or our computer software to research your career ideas.

Our Youth Gateway team is here to help if you are age 16 to 19 and want some support before moving onto your next step. One of our personal advisers will work with you to help you to improve your skills and confidence.

If you are thinking about changing career or returning to work after a break we can help you to improve your CV, the way you complete application forms and with your interview skills.

If you want to do a course for fun or are interested in doing some voluntary work one of our advisers can point you in the right direction.

We also work with schools and colleges to organise activities like work experience and enterprise days which prepare young people for the world of work.

We help employers to find the right young people to fill their vacancies and we can advise employers on developing the skills of their workforce."
