"The Women's Workshop grew out of a 20/20 vision project run by Lucy Evans and Gillian Metcalfe.
If women learn new skills they take them back to their families. At the end of the course the women decided to continue to meet, to hold creative workshops and share a healthy vegetarian lunch, first in each other's homes, and then in St James' Hall, Cwmann, where there was room for creative workshops and plenty of parking.
Over eight years we have seen many women develop their skills and return to work or education.
Over 100 women have benefited from the Women's Workshop. We try to keep the fee low, at present it is £2.50, which includes lunch, refreshments and the workshop.
We welcome all women from 16 to 100 plus. Often mothers find that they can't go on courses because they can't afford the child-care costs.
The Women's Workshop welcomes pre-school age children with their mothers, and operates a shared child-care scheme.
The group has published two creative anthologies - The Endless Chain, A Flowering of Words - and a recipe book - Tried and Tested.
We are an informal self-funded group. Our concerns are environmental issues, health, art and creativity.
Every week we also offer Qi Gong, which is a gentle form of exercise.
We welcome all women. Come and find us at St James' Hall, Cwmann. We meet on Wednesdays from 10am until 3pm during school term.
