"Lampeter Flower Club grew from a small acorn into a flourishing tree.Unfortunately West Wales hasn't many demonstrators living in the area and we have to ask demonstrators from further afield to visit.
These demonstrators have to charge for fuel, and as the cost of fuel has risen so has their mileage allowance. The cost of flowers has risen also due to transportation from Holland etc.,and that cost too has to be passed on.
With the present economic climate people are cutting back on social events, and so our membership has fallen.
This of course leaves us with a situation whereby we don't has the resources to book demonstrators.
Lampeter Club is not alone in this, clubs all over England & Wales have the same problem. Some have already closed.
When the club closes any money left will be donated to Wales Air Ambulance.
It is so sad as our members have made many new friends, enjoyed coach trips, dinners etc.
One of the highlights was a party visiting Highgrove, the home of His Royal Highness Prince Charles in October 2002.
It as the end of an era which is sad but we must remember the wonderful times we have had.
