Davena:"Taking the swan photograph as an example, you can see the image has more than one layer. The completed picture is created by an effect called 'layering'. I photographed some frost patterns on my car windscreen and superimposed the resulting picture on a photograph I had taken of a swan at Llandrindod lake. The other images in the series were treated in the same way, using for example a photograph of a blotchy piece of paper as one layer and some woodland as another. The I did some 'tinkering' with shadows, colour and so on."
