Aberaeron Carnival 2005

A miserable August Bank Holiday Monday morning gave way to an afternoon of warm sunshine - perfect weather for the parade of fancy dress floats taking part in Aberaeron's annual carnival. Click through our online album of photos taken by Rhodri Jones.

I used to live in the feathers hotel, and would watch the carnival from the window. It was a great day and my father and uncle have taken part in the past. I hope to catch it again some day.

Been coming to Aberaeron now for the past 25 years. We alway camp, had some very good years, always enjoyed the weekend, can't wait for this year, bringing more of our friends with us. Don't take part in the parade but always wear the colours for the year.

I used to go to the carnival and the sevens every year when I was a teenager and thoroughly enjoyed every one. I haven't been for several years now but I intend to come this year with my wife and 2 children so that they can enjoy the atmosphere and hwyl that comes with it.

I took part in the carnival 2005 and my twin sister and I had a great day. We do our best to take part evey year. We have dressed up as children for many years. I and the family look forward every year. It is a great day at Aberaeron when the town get together and have fun. But it is sad to see that some of the town members who have taken part for meny years and who have done a lot for the carnival have past away. Now there are the new people taking over and doing a great job but I will never forget the ones from the past as a child. Good luck to you all for 2006.

I happened to catch the carnival 8 years ago and haven't mised one since. Thank God for communities like this and the hard working people who make it all posible!

Great to see the carnival pics. I enjoyed the carnival in my youth before moving away from the area(1980). Nice to see pictures of the town enjoying the traditions. Greetings to all. Mark, helsinki

The day went very well. Full marks to the carnival committee who have all worked hard to make the day as safe and enjoyable for everybody. The procession stretched almost the whole length of the main street as you can see from the photographs and the square field was packed with people having a great day. 'Aberaeron yn yr haf'

I was raised in Aberaeron, so have a few family members there, a brother and sister, all the rest of the family are all over the country, and we all try and come to the carnival every year and meet up. Was the carnival better years ago, you bet it was, or is it that I was young then?
