I agree with Gorden Freeman, i love oak trees. They grow realy tall and they're really big.I like the way they sway in the wind. They are real cool trees.

I fully agree with Graham from Vancouver.I know the Oak tree he refers to.I have passed it hundreds of times and never fail to be amazed at the size and balanced formation of it.The branches almost reach the main road.Such a beautiful tree. Does anybody have a good photo of this tree?

Is this the right tree...

I left home in Wales as a teenager moved to the London area. On returning to Wales for bank holidays etc I was always impressed by a beautiful tree between Welshpool and Abermule. It is situated in the grounds of a large white 'stately home' on the right hand side of the road as it bends just east of Abermule across from the old canal. I always used to say in my mind as I passed it that it was the most amazing looking tree I have ever seen, really large and majestic with long branches reaching out wide. It was as if it was welcoming me home to Wales again! Perhaps there are others who know this big tree?

When in Brecon make a point of walking through the grounds of the Cathedral, and following the path at the far end. This will take you into the Priory Woods. There are paths leading everywhere. Whilst there take a look at the beutiful Beech tree growing on the breast, they are as straight and taii as any you will ever see in the British Isles.

Also there is history here The old Charcoal burning Forge was situated by the river, have a look if you can find places where the charcoal was burned in the old traditional earth topped kilns... There is also abundant wildlife, wild flowers and fauna which is of great interest. But most of all the tranquility and peace you will find there.
