David Barr, Cheshire
Hotel Gwesty Cymru on Aberystwyth promenade, is a fantastic place to stay, very friendly staff and the rooms are individual, comfortable and have a touch of class. The sunday lunches are the best i've had, Welsh black beef from Rob Rattray locally, just melts in the mouth. This place for me sets new standards for Hotels in Aberystwyth. Good work Gwesty Cymru, see you again.

My girlfriend travelled down through mid wales last summer. We arrived in Aber and were so struck we decided to stay for 2nights. We found a guesthouse on the prom, harbour end, called the Shoreline Guesthouse. We loved the seaview top bedroom. It was like being on a ship. Great place, great prices and very friendly couple that run it.

The Black Lion Hotel in Pontrhydfendigaid. Excellent B&B and probably the best cooked breakfast I have ever had (all local!!). Ideal base for discovering mid-Wales

The Penhelig Arms Hotel Aberdovey is a wonderful place to stay. Fabulous rooms, especially in Penhelig House and Bodelig House. Food out of this world with an extensive wine list. Friendly staff, fantastic views, a little piece of heaven on the West coast of Wales.

Neuaddlas guest house near Tregaron has fantastic views of Cors Caron nature reserve, you can even watch Red Kites being fed just a few yard from the door. The food is wonderful and everyone is so welcoming, it's a real home from home.

Gary & Meleri Schofield, Medicine Hat .
We were the 1st couple to get married in the PenmaenDyfi Hotel in Pennal, just before coming to live in Canada for 2 years. Our friends and family agreed that it was absolutely fantastic, the spectacular food and lodgings made all the more enjoyable by the friendly owners. It will be the first place we will re-visit when we come back home to Wales next year.(Thoroughly reccommended as a wedding venue!)

S. Craddock from Mississippi nominates Lake Vyrnwy Hotel
My wife and I stayed here one evening of our honeymoon, July 2001. Great atmosphere and breathtaking view. Rowed out on the lake on a beautiful sunny morning. Wish we would have stayed a few more days; we're planning on doing so on our next trip to Wales.

Lake Vyrnwy Hotel is fantastic. It has wonderful views and is a lovely place for a weekend break. If you stay in Room 3 I understand that you have a bath with a view! The views are excellent, you just look over the lake, fantastic. The food is excellent. I have stayed at the hotel twice in one of the superior lake view rooms. On a wonderful sunny day you can sit on your balcony and have sun until 9 in the evening. The hotel is friendly and not pretentious. The resteraunt food is excellent. We visit often just for a meal and have always had good food and service. I've even attended a wedding there!

Myk Garton and Denise Bray from Bristol
Brynych Caravan & Camping Park at Brecon. A decent British summer and 10 days spent camping on a brilliant site. Sat outside our tent at 7.30am with bacon & cheese rolls with clear views of the Cribyn, Pen-y-fan and Corn Du in the Brecon Beacons. Outstanding and never to be forgotten.

Andrew from Brynmawr
Elan Valley Hotel near Rhayader: Great food, the Welsh black there is the best cut of meat I've ever had, good choice of ales and organic cider. The owners and locals make you feel like one of them. Can't recommend it highly enough!
Fri Jan 30 13:18:00 2004

Andy Bull
Elan Valley Hotel, Rhayader: The bar is incredibly informal with a roaring log fire. The meals, either bar or restaurant, are sensational, I drag lots of friends there for the treat. Richard and Denise almost make you feel like they are intruding on you! In the winter, the locals will make you feel so welcome you may never want to go back (like I don't). Either way the inn is gateway to BY FAR the most beautiful scenery in the UK
Fri Jan 30 13:17:45 2004

Rhian Phillips
Ynyshir Hall Hotel, Eglwys Fach: I ate the best meal I have ever had there. A thoroughly luxurious place to stay.
Fri Jan 30 13:17:12 2004

Talbontdrain Guest House just outside Machynlleth has the best combination of amazing views and delicious food that anyone could possible want
Fri Jan 30 13:16:41 2004

Catrin Roberts
Harbourmaster Hotel, Aberaeron: A hotel which offers a warm welcome and which serves Welsh food of the highest quality.
