There is a wealth of history of metal mining in Mid Wales. But was there any coal mined in this region?
The boom in the south Wales coal industry led to large-scale migration from Ceredigion and Powys. Did this affect your family or community?
We'd like to hear your stories and we'll try to publish as many as we can to build up a fuller picture of how the black stuff affected life in Mid Wales.
Please get in touch at wales.mid@bbc.co.uk.
The call for families to take part has now closed but Coal House is looking for a teacher to transport back to the 1920s classroom to put the children through their paces in Maths, English, technical drawing and 20s style PE.
The selected teacher will have to teach children between 5 - 14 years old, five days a week for three weeks at the end of October into the beginning of November. They will also live in one of the cottages.
Are you a teacher (retired or still working) who is up for the challenge of teaching 1927 style education? If so get in touch
Coal House will be on BBC One Wales three times a week starting from Monday 22nd October 2007. As part of this project we want you to share your stories of life in Welsh coal mining communities with us - the memories, the experiences and the good and bad points.
If you've got a good coal mining tale to tell you can visit the website at bbc.co.uk/coalhouse or telephone us on 08703 500 700.
